E-Rate: TCSP is Advocating for Technology Advisors

Technology Advisors Need a Voice in the E-Rate Conversation

The E-Rate program has long played an important role in helping schools and libraries obtain the connectivity and technology services they need.

It also represents an important opportunity for Technology Advisors that help these organizations evaluate, procure and manage technology solutions.

That is why TCSP is paying close attention to developments affecting E-Rate—and why we believe Technology Advisors need a seat at the table when decisions are made about the future of the program.

Why This Matters to Technology Advisors

Technology Advisors frequently serve as the trusted intermediary between customers and technology providers. They help organizations understand their options, identify the right solutions and navigate an increasingly complicated technology marketplace.

For schools and libraries participating in E-Rate, that role can be particularly valuable.

The advisor can help translate technology requirements into practical solutions, identify appropriate providers, compare alternatives and help customers make informed decisions.

Any changes to the E-Rate process therefore have the potential to affect not only providers and applicants, but also the Technology Advisors who help bring those solutions together.

TCSP's Role

TCSP was created to advocate for the Technology Advisor community.

We believe the advisor channel should be represented whenever policies, regulations or industry practices could materially affect the ability of Technology Advisors to serve their customers.

E-Rate is an example of that mission in action.

TCSP is monitoring the situation, engaging with relevant stakeholders and advocating for an approach that recognizes the legitimate role Technology Advisors play in helping schools and libraries achieve their technology objectives.

Our goal is straightforward:

Technology Advisors should not be an afterthought in decisions that affect the customers they serve and the business models they have built around serving those customers.

Advocacy Is One of TCSP's Four Pillars

This effort illustrates why TCSP's Advocate pillar is so important.

Individual Technology Advisor companies often don't have the time, resources or access necessary to engage effectively on industry-wide issues.

An association can bring the collective voice of the channel to the conversation.

That's what TCSP intends to do.

We won't necessarily agree with every policy decision or every stakeholder involved. But we believe Technology Advisors deserve an independent organization that understands their business model and is willing to speak up on their behalf.

We're Watching—and We're Working

The E-Rate landscape will continue to evolve.

TCSP will continue monitoring developments and communicating with Technology Advisors as more information becomes available.

If you're a Technology Advisor involved in the E-Rate market, we want to hear from you. Your experience and perspective can help TCSP better understand the real-world impact of changes affecting the program.

This is what advocacy looks like: staying informed, engaging when it matters and making sure the Technology Advisor voice is heard.
