Why Certification?
The Technology Advisor industry has grown dramatically, but there has historically been no broadly recognized standard defining what it means to operate as a professional, ethical Technology Advisor.

The Foundation: A Code of Ethics
At the heart of the program is a Model Code of Ethics and Business Practices developed specifically with the Technology Advisor channel in mind.
The objective isn't to create unnecessary bureaucracy.
It's to establish clear expectations around how Technology Advisors conduct business.
That includes principles such as honesty, transparency, professionalism, appropriate disclosure and putting the customer's interests at the center of the advisory relationship.
A Program Designed to Grow With the Advisor
TCSP's certification model is designed around progressive levels of responsibility.
Level 1 — Ethical Business Practices
The foundation focuses on the core Code of Ethics and fundamental expectations for professional conduct.
Level 2 — Expanded Business Compliance
The next level adds areas such as privacy, regulatory considerations, human resources and financial compliance.
Level 3 — Advanced Data & Security Practices
The highest level expands the scope to include areas such as data protection and cybersecurity.
The objective is to create a program that is meaningful without being unnecessarily burdensome—and that can evolve as the Technology Advisor business continues to evolve.
Certification Must Mean Something
TCSP believes the value of certification depends on its credibility.
A logo or digital badge by itself doesn't establish trust.
The certification process therefore needs to be built around clearly defined standards, appropriate terms and conditions, and a credible process for addressing potential violations.
TCSP is developing those components as part of the program.
Our objective is simple:
When a customer sees that an advisor is TCSP Certified, it should mean something.
